CI Pathways: Convolutional Neural Networks

04/08/25 - 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM EDT

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are essential for processing signal data such as audio and images. In this session, we will delve into their core concepts, focusing on using convolution filters for feature extraction and linear layers for classification. Participants will learn how convolutional layers detect local patterns in images, the role of pooling in reducing spatial dimensions for more efficient computation, how to stabilize the learning process using batch normalization, and how to train the AlexNet model on the ImageNet dataset.
