Project Description

The need for Cyber training at Southeast Missouri State University is driven by the need for increased CI workforce development. They are in the very early stages of trying to develop a research computing program. Research Computing HPC services include a small cluster that is several years old, obtained through an internal grant. In terms of outreach, there has been little awareness of research computing services within the institute.
Professors within the Physics department are actively interested in using the existing cluster. A new Bioinformatics faculty member is interested in using the cluster. There also is a senior Chemistry student who wants to make her capstone research project. There is also movement in the development of computational degree programs branded as CS+Chemistry and CS+Physics. One of the faculty members had students build a Raspberry Pi cluster as a class project to help introduce HPC concepts. They are considering a move towards the development of a formal Research Computing program.
